In 1978, a group of concerned residents came together to discuss the idea of forming a snowmobile club for Lac Du Flambeau.
At their first meeting, the question of a name for our club came up. One of the resort owners shared a story about a hornshoe rabbit that was pilfering his garden. This rabbit was unique as he had a five point rack. Then they decided to name the club the Northern Hornshoe Trails snowmobile club.
Our club has become very active in all community activities and has overcome many obstacles. Thanks to our hard working members, we are recognized as an important organization in our community and Vilas County. We are known for our good will, friendliness, and especially for our strong togetherness in making our trail system the best ever.
We would also like to thank the Town of Lac du Flambeau and the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians for all of their support.
